Hi. I'd like to know if there are any electronic games that are accessible to the blind. The only one, I know, is one, i once had, called Brain Bash. I know, Bop It exists too, but those are the only ones. Does anyone know if any other electronic games are accessible? Thanks.

Do you mean games you install on your computer or games you can buy and take them with you somewhere? If you are looking for computer games there are a lot but for outstanding game the only one i heard is bobit.

the version of simon that has you follow the tones works pretty well too.

Well, Bop It and Bop It Extreme are still around, even if only on Ebay. There are others that are not made anymore, so Ebay would be the best place to go for these. Torx, Top It, which is a Bop It clone using a beanbag, Zing It, which is a yo-yo-looking thing, and Click It and Super Click It. Simon is still a classic, and I'm told Merlin was brought back. Merlin has six games, like tic-tac-toe, composer, follow me, secret number and etc. It's somewhat visual but mostly audible. These are all I can think of, really.

I have seen that there are also some electronic chess games that also should provide voice feedback. Does anyone have any experience with such games?

I haven't actually got them myself, but you can always check out Cobolt Speech master and see if these chess sets provide voice feedback. They are a company based in Norfolk UK who specialise in talking products for blind or partially sighted people. They sell a talking chess set and a talking battle ships game.

I used to have a vertual tennis game, basicly it's a racket and you swing it like you would in a tennis game. it's talks and makes sounds but I got mine at toys are us. it's totally blind friendly. I had a base ball bat once that worked similarly but it was more for 4 and 5 year olds not all that exciting. I would like to find more games like this.

you

Well, there's a Harry Potter wand where you basically copy what it says, either the sounds or the different coloured flashing lights. I think you can get that from Toys R Us, or they also have this Rock It game which is basically a very trendy electric guitar with a slider that slides left and right up and down the neck which you can twist backwards or forwards and where the frets would be on the guitar, there's a lever that you flick backwards or forwards. There's a rhythm game where you copy the rhythms or patterns of flashing lights or there's a a game a bit like the Bop it, where you copy each sound as it's played, and the music gets faster and faster, but it also changes key. Yeah, got you now, haven't I? You'd have to be extremely quick and clever to beat it. With this game, there's also a Group game where you can pass it round to other people as the beat gets quicker. Don't be put off by the group Jam, free Jam, Rhythm Jam or plain Jam though. that's just what it calls the different sorts of games on there. You even have a choice of which guitar. There's a sort of jazz or pop guitar, or an electric guitar to choose from. It's loads and loads of fun for all the family.

I've had four different versions of Simon. One was called Copy Cat. I've still got it in the other room in my games and other rubbish cupboard, I think I've still got this hexagonal one, I had a very small square one which fitted in my pocket, and I had what was probably one of the first ones to come out, which my grandparents, next door neibhbours gave me when their children had finished with it.

A few years ago, there was a company that sold a talking darts set. I never saw it, but heard about it.

Cool. I've always wanted to play darts. Don't know if it'd be any good for us though. You have to see the numbers on the board and watch where you're throwing the darts so you don't spike somebody be accident.

Is Henrey being made anymore? I thought it was discontinued.
I used to love that game, but I wasn't sure who made it.

I don't aboute Henry anymore. Its been a while since I played thoughs travel games. I've beatten all the boppits and there cloans. I've beatten brane bash and brane warp. O and there's this game called twister and it is shaved like a big dice. on the sides there was big buttons on each side. Yellow, green, red, blue, pirple, and orange. And it would head red, butt blue.

Post 21 by The SHU interpreter (I just keep on posting!) on Saturday, 17-Jun-2006 22:36:56

how does the twister thing work. is it small? how big is it? does it talk? what does it say?

Post 22 by Mexican Spitfire (Eating the elephant one bite at a time.) on Friday, 23-Jun-2006 12:06:57

Try "Sorry, Card Revenge" There is a little guy inside this Hershees Kiss shaped that of which the top can be removed to store your cards, pawns and little circles, which I fort what they are called. The little guy inside the plastic thing talks and tells you what to do or what you can do throughout the game. The cards are in print, but I'm sure that shouldn't be too difficult to put them in braille. They sell this game at Walmart and Target, too, I think.

Henry is no longer made. We're lucky to have one here. Ebay is a good place to find some of these older games. I got Brain Bash there.
